¼ Oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin was introduced in 1982. The success and the demand of the 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coin. This created a market and Royal Canadian Mint show the opportunity and released the coin expansion program. The first phase was released in 1982, with the introduction of the ¼ oz and 1/10 oz coins, and the second with the ½ oz in 1986. In 2003 Susanna Blunt portrayed Queen Elizabeth II without the crown on her head. The first portrayal of Queen Elizabeth was designed by Walter Ott.
The ¼ oz is attractive to the new buyer who wants to get into the market. It is a sweet spot between an ounce and the 1/10 coin.
